New Laptop - what to get

My boss has said I can have a laptop and has asked what I'd prefer. I have absolutely no idea, it will only be for Office, checking emails, internet, etc but if I have a choice I want a good one!

Money doesn't seem to be a problem to him! Grin

Any suggestions?

This one has a lovely brushed aluminium finish, the site is good for recommendations too:

Have a think about what screen size you need and if you need to carry it around, they can feel very heavy after a while. Some very nice premium light brands around

I've just bought a Toshiba C660-11H. It's reasonably light weight, has a good processor (core i3), a good screen and the disk and memory are reasonable. It should meet your needs and disk and memory are relatively simple upgrades, if you need more a year or 2 down the line, whereas a slow processor would be harder to upgrade.

It has a wide screen layout, which won't be to everybody's taste. I'm not sure how it would score on battery life, that wasn't a priority for us.

You should be able to get one for around £425.

I recommend Asus, Samsung, Toshiba or HP.

Thanks everyone, I went shopping with the boss and got a Toshiba C660 - then logged on it straight onto MN and realised it was recommended!
