How to increase photo resolution to print enlargements?!

Help me please! I've got some really nice photographs taken on an iphone 3GS that I would love to have blown-up and printed. Is there anyway of increasing the resolution of these, and or will they look terrible if enlarged to say 15"x15"?

How big are they at the moment?

Between 1.5 - 2 MB

That sounds fairly big, they'll probably look OK ... do you have the pixel dimensions? You might need to open them on a computer to find these. You don't want to go below about 150 dpi for print (ideally 300) so if you want 15 x 15 prints, your pixel dimensions need to be at least 2250 x 2250.

thank you, much much appreciated!

I think the resolution of a 3GS's camera is about 2000 by 1500 (3mp), so keeping the same aspect ration you could print them at at about 15" by 11.5".

I suspect that the photos will look a little rough at that size as there's not quite enough detail in them, but the only way to be sure is to try it.
