I have emails sent to one address also sent to another address. I want to add another address for emails sent there to be sent to my main email and can't remember how to do it.

is it in 'rules' (under 'tools')?

Suzihaha · 30/01/2011 17:45

Which email client are you using?

ImFab · 30/01/2011 17:55

Well I thought I had done it but the test email hasn't come through yet. I don't know what an email client is.

I have emails sent to one address also sent to another address.

Is this your ISP mail, or something like Google Mail, or Hotmail / Live Mail ?

I'm not after your e-mail address, but it is awkward to know where to start if one doesn't understand the service being used. In my case, I have some free mail accounts on Google Mail, FastMail, Live.com and Yahoo.com. I've also paid for service on Runbox.com and FastMail.net and there's e-mail service at my ISP (PlusNet) too.

I have set up some rules on Google Mail, so incoming mail from some places gets forwarded on to one mail address that I check regularly.

I want to add another address for emails sent there to be sent to my main email and can't remember how to do it.

My ISP PlusNet allows a user to create mail 'aliases' so I could have @myuseraccount.plus.com sent to @myuseraccount.plus.com

But they also allow for mail to be sent to some other mail address (eg @orange.net ) so I could get a text alert about new mail arriving.

I think it would help if you explain which company/ISP mail service you are using and at least give an example where you put xxxx instead of your own username...

eg people can mail me as [email protected] but I want to have mail sent to [email protected] to also go to [email protected]

I had an old address which I don't want to use anymore but if any emails do go there they are forwarded on to my new address.

I set up another address and want messages sent their to go to my new address as stated in number 1 paragraph.

It is a hotmail.co.uk address which sends them to a hotmail.com address.

Ah, glad you found the E-Mail forwarding option. Sorry, was going to post again but a client (*) rang me.

For anyone else who wonders, Microsoft's Live / Hotmail service has an "Options" link towards the right edge of the window above the list or messages, on the same line as the New Deleted Junk etc menus.

At the bottom it says "More options..." and there are lots of them... screendump here

(*) Sometimes I feel tempted not to answer... In the past he has called at 23:00 on a Saturday night needing viruses removing by morning to be able to print a fight check-in ticket... Don't remember what the hell he had on his machine but it was taking several seconds between each key being accepted when typing, so I had to switch to the on-screen keyboard... glad I could at least 'remote control' his machine and did get it sorted about 4am !
