Anyone having trouble with sky mail?

I use a sky email address which I access using POP3 via Outlook. For some reason Outlook is having error connections this afternoon - I can still see my mail by logging onto my sky account but would much prefer to use Outlook - any ideas? Thanks

When there are thousands (or millions) of customers, it is common to split services such as e-mail into various functions internally.

There may be (say) 10 systems accepting e-mail, 5 systems sending e-mail (10 for incoming to cope with unwanted spam in a timely manner).

Another 10 or more may be controlling access to data for these thousands / millions of users.

Another set would handle web-based access while finally, a different set might handle POP or IMAP etc.

It is not impossible to have some of the machines down for maintenance while others are working, so perhaps that might explain you seeing new mail, but not being able to download it.

If only there was someone from Sky to answer.

Just went and looked and saw no posts on the forum about e-mail. Sky service status ( www.sky.com/helpcentre/servicestatus ) showed no problem with e-mail either.

Last time I helped someone with Outlook it seemed a bit clunky. Are you getting a specific timeout message, or could it possibly have the wrong password stored ?
