Anyone got an HTC Desire and use Google Navigation?

Because I've used it and now I cannot for the life of me figure out how to exit it and the icon showing it is running is still at the top of my home screen. I've had to turn off GPS just so I don't drain my battery and run up data charges - how do i exit this blessed app? I am a bit simple - is there something obvious I'm missing?

(And I have googled but I couldn't find an answer!)

Click the menu button, and there's an "exit navigation" option. :)

The menu button actually on your phone, bellow the screen, to the left of the round one in the middle. It has "menu" written on it :)
It is quite a useful button for all sorts of things on lots of different apps.
