Kindle - monthly charge?

My dad gave my technophobe mum a Kindle for Christmas. I was speaking to her yesterday and she's only half way through reading the registration/instructions but has managed to link to something that asked for her credit card details and said she would be charged £7.99 per month. Which she has duly done Hmm

Does anyone know what this would be for? Is it for 3G coverage? Or books? Or just something dubious?

She's now a bit worried and she's tried calling the helpline but they were no help!

Have she subscribed to one of the newspapers? They have an initial free two week trial and then charge a monthly fee.

Thanks, I'll see if she can recall anything about newspapers popping up.

Just had a look and the daily mail is £8.99 a month. If she has signed up for a free trial of a newspaper or magazine, she would need to cancel within the first 14 days otherwise she would be charged a monthly fee.
