How to block sites?

I need to block mumsnet and facebook from my laptop so I can get sme study done.

I have zero discipline.

Please can someone help me?!

What browser do you use ?

For Firefox, there's an Add-On called "LeechBlock" which can block sites during certain hours, or allow some limited time per day (eg 30 minutes).

As for you having an iPhone, no suggestions - you will be able to view from that anytime - so it will be down to willpower on the iPhone.

(OK, iPod not iPhone... running similar OS so same applies - only willpower will stop you spending too much time online).

I have windows explorer.

Ipod - Im fine with - when using that Laptop isnt fired up with work that needs doing!

open up this file in notepad

C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts

(remember the file above does not have an extension like .txt .doc its just called hosts)

add this line to the bottom of it

127.0.0.1 www.mumsnet.com

save the file

voila !, you now cant browse mumsnet any more

then add mumsnt there ?

Yes but I know the password and it's very easy to override

Lol, surely it's not that hard!!

Just remove the line you added to the hosts file and mumsnet will be available again

To get to notepad:
Start - run

In the run box type
Notepad
Then press enter
