Loosing internet connection

My laptop ( and DS's PS3 ) loose the wireless connection .
Our network dissapears from the list of available connections .
Usually remedied by manually resetting router .
Sometimes ok for days ,then becomes a problem - no obvious time of day .
We live in upstairs flat and I think people underneath us use Sky as their provider .
We've already changed channels ( had to get someone to do that for me ) and that seemed to help ( or maybe it didn't ,as I've said it's ok for days on end and then suddenly not ).
Any ideas - simply explained as I'm old and not very savvy .
Thanks in advance .

Wireless drop outs can be caused by many things. One quick thing you can do is check if you are running the latest firmware (software) of your router.

Can you confirm what router you have?

Try a new ASDL thingy - worked for me.

It says CISCO and also Linskys on the router .
How do I check/update the software ?
What's an ASDL thingy ?

The little box that the hub plugs into and also the telephone line. I suspect that it isn't called an ADSL thingy as I looked on google for an example and can't find one.

What you need is a friend who knows about these things and ask them round for a cuppa :) I have a very good one, hence I know nothing about anything.

If changing channels has worked before then try it again, there might be a few of you hopping around various channels and maybe someone has hopped on to the one that you are using.
