Amazon is good

beepmp3...free but could quite possibly be illegal!!

We use Limewire, again, not sure how legal.... Blush

wouldnt use limewire, carries viruses

clutha · 02/01/2011 17:28

spotify is good

CointreauVersial · 02/01/2011 17:31

Clutha - we use Spotify too, but surely that just streams music? Can you actually download onto an MP3 player too?

Interesting what you say about Limewire. We haven't had any problems, but have assumed our virus protection would sort us out.

Eeek, don't use Limewire. Seriously. It is the computer equivalent of going into an unlicensed Thai brothel and requesting the filthiest practices you can imagine without using any protection. Get them legally off iTunes, or Amazon which is often cheaper - some tracks sold for as little as 29p-49p.

If you buy from iTunes you may find that you need to convert from mp4 to mp3 before the song will play on some players which don't support mp4s. There are various free converters online.

iTunes can handle the conversion from MP4 (AAC) to MP3 so you don't need any additional software.

And as a general note please stick to legal sites and don't steal your music from "free" download sites. The main reason for doing that isn't to avoid viruses but just that theft is wrong.

7 digital is good and safe too

UnquietDad · 04/01/2011 09:58

Badgers - can it really (iTunes)?? I haven't yet discovered how, if so.

BadgersPaws · 04/01/2011 10:23

Yes iTunes can do it.....

iTunes can convert a music file from the current format to the configured import format.

There are full instructions here:
support.apple.com/kb/ht1550

iTunes will duplicate the song, so you'll end up with the original format and the new format side by side.
