Am trying to decide whether to go with the cheaper option of an ipod touch + a separate mobile rather than forking out a fortune on what seems to be just the option of making calls -am I missing something here or is the new Ipod touch just an Iphone without the phone and the camera isn't as good Confused

The iPod Touch and the iPhone do have a few differences aside from the obvious phone part. The iPhone is a touch more powerful, though that may not be noticed.

What will be noticed is that the camera in the iPod Touch really isn't very good, it's worse than the camera that they put into the 1st Generation iPhone yet alone when you compare it to what they put in the latest iPhone.

Depends on your financial circumstances and how much you value carrying one device around instead of two.

The camera is the main difference but to be honest if you want decent pics, you should use a normal camera anyway.

thanks everyone, am leaning towards the ipod touch 32GB, I think it's more the money attached to the iphone monthly contract, whereas with an ipod it's just an initial outlay of £220 and that's it and I can keep my cheapy nokia for just making calls and texting.
