iPad trouble

Received our new iPad this week and it is fab.

However, when accessing my mail the iPad no longer rotates from landscape to portrait. It does on all other apps.

I have checked the page lock in the menu bar and this is not locked to landscape.

Any suggestions?

There's a thread on the apple support forum that suggests forcing the Mail app to close

"While in the mail app do the following:
-Hold down the power button until "slide to power down" is shown
-Let go of the power button and hold the home button until the mail app closes." apparently this worked for one poster.

I have found that if an app (usually Safari) freezes it often works to close it in the multitasking bar - hold one icon in the bar until it wiggles then touch the minus sign.
This usually works on my iPhone - my iPad is still version 3.2.2- but it should have the same effect.
