Trouble setting up facebook account

I'm trying to set up a facebook account and keep getting the message: "Please enter a valid email address" on the initial page, despite entering a perfectly usable address. Using an iMac. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Is it because I am using an info@.... address (it's a small business)?

ok I've found it - it doesn't like info@ aargh.
