your mp3 should have come with a usb cable and possibly a disk to load it on to your pc.

You need a usb cable that will fit your mp3 then you can transfere music from your pc onto your mp3.

HTH

I've got the cable, plugged both ends in, and have cds in the pc, but how do I get them to the MP3? Is that "D" or "E" or what? Do I need a special program?

I think it is drive E. I hink you will need to put your music onto windows media player, or which ever program you use on pc, then drag and drop what you want on the mp3.

But without seeing it I can't help anymore, sorry :(

What sort of MP3 Player is it? Did it come with any instructions?

Looking for the "Safely Remove" button down on the Task Bar near your clock and then use it remove your MP3 Player, if you can't see it then don't worry. Once done unplug it.

Look at windows explorer. Do you still have a D: and an E: drive?

Plug the player back in, what drive appeared that wasn't there before?

I give up!

I found "E", clicked and dragged file of music on the pc but it doesn't seem to be on the MP3!

Sad

it might not be in the right format. Do you have windows media player?

meltedmarsbars · 29/11/2010 14:19

Gawd knows what I have - dh copies discs and stuff onto an iplayer, but I have never tried - am trying to put some cds onto mp3 players that I've got for the dcs.

Feel v thick now!

when I do it for mine I have to transfer the cd onto windows media player and from there onto the mp3 player. It should come up on your start menu, either that or you can do it via itunes.

meltedmarsbars · 29/11/2010 14:23

Aha, will now try itunes...

If I was you, i'd get your dh to SHOW you how to do it.

madhairday · 29/11/2010 14:27

If you have WMP the device should show up on the menu in that program. You can then click on 'sync to device' in top right corner I think, and it will ask you what you want to sync, you then add any songs to the list and click on sync. HTH a bit!

frasersmummy · 29/11/2010 14:27

itunes is better for ipods

if its not apple...

put the cd in.. launch windows media player

choose rip cd and click start.. this will copy the cd tracks to your pc

then still within media player drage your tracks into the sync window

click sync

BadgersPaws · 29/11/2010 14:36

Are you sure that the player is the E: drive? Does that come and go depending on whether or not the MP3 player is connected?

That file you copied, what is the full name? In particular the bit after the dot. If you can't see a dot then right click on the file and select properties and you should set it. Is it MP3? WMA?

You can still use iTunes with other MP3 players and rather than using two bits of software to manage your music it might be easier to use one.

When you know which drive your MP3 player is drag and drop the tunes you want from iTunes to the player.

You know, my other task of today was to prune a vine - that was a helluva lot easier!!
