Twitter help - how do I get followers?

Sorry I know people keep asking about Twitter but I could do with some help.

I joined a while ago and one of my FB friends (an old colleague) kindly became a follower. I forgot about it for a while and then went on it today and sent a twitter message to Krishna Guru Murthy (who was one of the slightly random people I decided to follow, just to see how it all worked).

Anyway - he is now following me and must think I am very sad to only have one other follower.

How do I get more?

And should I be writing lots of exciting tweets to keep him/others following me?

stranded no if you reply to someone in that way then only they and those on your list that are following will see it. although there are ways to get all to see it: So -

Say you're following skyNews (for instance) and you reply to one of their tweets you would write

@skyNews I think this news story is awesome (for instance) and then they, and everyone on your follower list who is following sky news would see it. Those who do not follow skyNews would not.

however, if you tweeted:

"have just seen an awesome story on @skyNews," then everyone on your follower list would see it.

I think I just need a bit of practise...

It will also be easier once we are back in the UK (am currently in St Lucia for another three weeks - have lived here about 16 months) as then I can be a bit more up to date on politics/tv/weather etc and feel like I have something to say/add.

As it is I doubt anyone wants to know about the mozzies I have killed/the fact that it is 28 degrees and sunny today/that my daughters are doing very well in their swimming lessons (I lead a simple life)

So, the journalists would be useful. Which ones follow you back?
