My dd got a new mobile phone for her birthday a few months ago. She uses the alarm on it to wake her up every morning for school, alarm clock broke so it's very useful that the phone also has an alarm, but it has recently stopped working. She sets the alarm before going to bed and the phone switches itself off during the night and the alarm doesn't go off.

If I take the phone back the shop will they give me a new phone or will they have to send it away to be investigated/fixed?

Any advice appreciated, thanks

Is the clock on the phone set to 24 hour and the alarm on the same~?

I found once that theywere mixed up and not work....

Take it back to the shop :)

Does the phone turn itself off during the day?

Sounds a bit odd how it only turns itself off at night?

Some phones can be set with auto-on and auto-off times (I have an Alcatel with this).

Some alarms work even if the phone is "off" (Siemens).

Might help to know what make and model DD has!

Thanks for the replies only just getting back as I've been out the rest of the day.

It's a LG Cookie Fresh, dd says that it does switch itself off during the day as well. It didn't do this when she first got it. It all seemed to work fine when she got it the alarm would go off when it was supposed to and it didn't switch off when it felt like it.

I think it would be worth returning to the shop, if poss, or ring ask them for advice, since it is only a few months old.

Fact it can switch off by itself day or night is either some function that might be on my mistake, or a fault that makes it "not fit for purpose". If initially no joy, a letter to some magazine / website dealing with mobile phones (so they can ask the shop) might get results.

Good luck!
