I'm considering buying a kindle for my dyslexic son as it has a text to speak feature, has anyone got one, I would like to know what it sounds like, is it a very computerised voice??
If I decided to get an ipad instead and then use the kindle app does that also then have a text to speak feature or is that just the Kindle?
Thanks so much if you can help.I'm thinking that the kindle may be a good buy on black friday so am at the ready!!

I have a kindle (it arrived a couple of days ago). The text to speak is pretty robotic for ordinary books, but if it's a "spoken book" (not sure of the right term) as in those recorded for the blind, it's very natural. Can't say fot the iPad, sorry. :(

You can listen to samples of the text to speech function on the Kindle on the UK Kindle users forum.

I find quite a lot of books are not enabled for text to speech. So depending on the books, you may find that they can't be read using text-to-speech on Kindle.
