OK just started to have intermittent trouble with some keys. Seems to be mainly with the top row (q to p) first of all they wouldn't work with the shift key, had to put capslock on get capitals, now they're playing up even in lower case, have to press and really hold down to get letters to print, but not all the time, really, really confused. Anyone any ideas?

No idea alas, though may be a good idea to get to know Virtual Keyboard - www.microsoft.com/enable/training/windowsxp/oskturnonuse.aspx should the keys stop working completely.

It might be worth trying to clean the keyboard. A quick hoover might help.

If not you can probably look up the model of your keyboard/laptop on the internet and get instructions as to how to remove the keys and give the underneath a more thorough clean.
