Not sure if this is the right topic, but here goes.....

I'm absolutely new to ebay. I registered 20 minutes ago.

I saw something interesting to buy my father for Christmas so I put in a maximum bid then bid on it. Now I'm the highest bidder.

What I hadn't seen is that the item is pink. In the picture it's silver! I didn't read the last line where it states the colour until I had already bid.

Can I change my maximum bid? I tried looking for information on ebay but couldn't find it.

My dad will not be impressed if I get him a pink anything.... what can I do???

Any help much appreciated!!

You can remove your bid if you only placed it today. Can't tell you how to do it but if you go to help section it wil tell you.

Thanks littlebird3,

I tried the help section and they say you can retract your bid if it is for one of three reasons. My reason is not one of them so they say to contact the seller.

When I tried to do this, it just gives you information about postage etc.

I guess I'm stuck with it!!

Regarding contact with the seller, you should find a drop-down menu of reasons why you want to contact them - one is for 'general question' where the first is about postage I think...

Hopefully the seller will be understanding, esp as the photo is misleading. Grab a screen copy (ALT + PrintScreen) and paste it into say MS Paint so you have a copy of what the listing looked like when you placed your bid (in case seller changes photo).

Anyway, if you have only just registered, you could pretty easily delete your profile if there is any 'black mark' (if seller refuses to cancel your bid). Best try the explaining mix-up situation (fault of photo) first...

Thank you networkguy!!

Luckily for me this morning when I checked I had been outbid. So I won't be bidding again until I understand it all a bit more!!

Thanks for all advice!
