Hi,

If anyone can help me with this I would be so grateful. I have done a huge assignment but can't print it out yet due to bastard margins.

I need a 4cm left hand margin.

the first page is fine but the second page and beyond weren't.

I have tried changing the margins - "apply to whole document".

I have tried selecting all and changing the margins on "paragraph".

I hate apple mac :)

I have now started doing it manually with the ruler at the top but it is still mucking about and will change a few lines and then suddenly throw a line out left a few centimetres.

So boring, I'm sorry, but if anyone can help I would be so grateful. Thank you.

I'm getting 4cm margins on all pages by going:

File - Page Setup
Selecting Microsoft word on SETTINGS pull down menu
Clicking on the margins button that appears

Changing margins to 4cm.

HOW VERY DARE YOU HATE APPLE MAC?!

Sorry if this is useless and does not apply. Smile

It's not Mac, it's Word. It's horribly, horribly random and buggy on a Mac (might be on a PC, dunno).

I can't help with the problem, sorry, but not too long ago I set aside a couple of hours and I learned Pages. It's really worth the time. It's fantastic and I can whip up documents so quickly - they look ten times better than when done on Word, too.

Just save everything as a pdf and other people can read it no bother.

In top drop down select "view" - select "rulers" - rules appear on top of document. Double click on the rules / guide. Document Box appears... (whoop whoop)

Type want you want. Make sure "Whole Document" is selected in drop down. Select OK. Kiss the mac and print out.

I am just about to try your guidelines wottknott.

Thank you everyone. Can't believe you are all up and clicking on to geeky stuff. :)

I'll be back soon no doubt ......

Wottknott, I tried what you said. I see what you mean about double clicking on the ruler thing and it comes up to set your 4cm but it just doesn't do it, or it does it to 6cm or something. I've done the typing so I need it to change what is there already.

Thank you for your help. I think I will have to find a RL person after all.

Create a new document with the correct margins. Go to the existing document. Copy and paste the text into the new document. Save it. Does that work. You may have to reformat line beaks, paragraphs or simply reduce the font size a little to get it to fit on the pages.

Good luck with RL person.
