Go to amazon, they have lots of free classics

TheMoistWorldOfSeptimusQuench · 04/11/2010 22:28

Don't get Angry Birds.
You will never get anything done ever again. Your dinner will burn and your children will starve.

The kindle I have is Amazon Kindle, if you open it up and then open up the menu there should be a kindleshop option.

I have found out that angry birds doesn't work on the Wildfire because of the QVGA screen, but they are working on that at the moment and are supposed to be releasing a wildfire version in the next few weeks.

Jareth - Dropbox is an app you install on your computer and on your phone (you can install on lots of different machines, I have it on 4). You can then save any doc, photo, video, music etc to the dropbox folder on your computer (it shows up within the Documents folder on my Vista machine) and when you next open the app on your phone/iPod Touch/iPad etc the file you saved is there, you can edit and resave (depending on file type etc) and it will save the changes back to the original file on the pc.

Or, that's how I understand it anyway. I find it really handy for a quick way to copy across a single photo or something, without having to plug the phone in. I also have a text to-do list in there, so I can cross things off/add them on any device.

TeamEdward - if you go to the Amazon website, and go to the Kindle store section, they have a subheading for 'Free Books'. I can never find it as easily via the app.

Once you have downloaded the app on your phone and signed in, you can select the books on the pc to be sent to your phone, and they will download next time you open the app on the phone.

my spanky new wildfire arrived this morning (hurrah).

This apps business is completely new to me. I am an apps virgin. Does MN have an app yet ?

JarethTheGoblinKing · 05/11/2010 14:13

not an app as such (that I'm aware of anyway) but try browsing to m.mumsnet.com/ on your phone

NinkyNonker · 05/11/2010 20:54

I've just ordered the new HTC Desire HD (following a recommendation from Jareth, thanks!), having spent ages researching and not being sure what extra I was getting for the price of the iPhone! Got to wait till next Fri to get it though. V excited, have the most basic of basic phones at the mo.

NinkyNonker · 05/11/2010 20:59

Oh, meant to ask whether anyone knew of an app type thing that monitors your data useage? The tariff I've gone for includes 500mb and I don't want to go over...not sure how much 500mb equates to really.

bruffin · 05/11/2010 21:45

I have 1g for my wildfire and have not gone over yet. I do turn off the mobile network and use wifi instead when i can.

TmiEdward · 05/11/2010 22:59
MimsyStarr · 05/11/2010 23:35

Ninkynonk, I use one called 3G Watchdog that was recommended on the Android Forums.

JarethTheGoblinKing · 06/11/2010 22:48

Woohoo NinkyNonker! Glad my presence on MN is making a difference to someone Grin [rofl]

[dips TeamEdward in the Bog of Eternal Stench]

Muahaahahahaaa

NinkyNonker · 07/11/2010 14:49

Just can't wait for it to arrive now!

bruffin · 11/11/2010 02:51
