I thought I had it sussed - after having tried out the window family safety live thing on my own log in on here, (and nearly driven myself mad in the process having constnatly having to approve stuff Grin) - I decided to download it onto the PC that the boys now mostly use.....

as I liked the remote access thingymajig (sorry not very technical Blush) as I'm always logged into windows live so they could "request" games and stuff and it would pop up for me here, I'd preview, then decide.......blah blah blah (yes I'm lazy Blush Grin plus booting DS3 off to check something is suitable for him is a pita Wink)

Only to discover it only works with Windows 7 or Vista......it's XP on the PC grrr

So - recommend me something please.........

BBC Click - Children's Browsers from around 9minitues into the video.

Zoodles
KidRocket
KidZui
PikLuk

Not recommending any of those - just saying they are some to try, see if they work on your version of Windows.

Any system can be defeated by a child who is knowledgeable about computers... most systems will for example boot off a CD or a USB stick. So if you have children who are very tech savy, you will need to be disabling things in the BIOS to prevent them just running their own OS.

Thanks NN - will have a look.

I know about the potential ways round them.

Thankfully none of mine old enough to get hold of a CD or USB stick yet (hell I haven't even bought myself one yet Grin).

And really it's just so I can "approve" (or not Wink) or block certain games on a few websites they use.

DS1 games mad, (and not the brightest when it comes to the technicals of how computers work - he looked shell shocked not that long ago when I told him what he'd searched for in google and at what time - just from the history Grin).

Something with a timer (to stop DS1 getting up and playing games at 3am......) and something I can just check up on what exactly they've been up to, as although computer is in a "communal" space I'm not often in a position to "see" it.
