iphone 4 & email

Clueless question here sorry. I was thinking of getting an iphone 4 - can't justify it, but really like the look of it and this is a minor thing but can I set it up so it notifies me immediately i get an email in my hotmail/yahoo account or do I need it to be constantly connected to the internet and so eating up my potential 1G allowance?

BIl says I should get a blackberry - email push?? but I want to be able to get emails without having to check as I intend to run a small business and would like to be able to reply ASAP to any queries.

The iPhone supports push email from Yahoo, Hotmail, Google Mail and Microsoft Office.

Any other email account can also be set to check for mail regularly without you having to explicitly do it.

Be warned though - it does make the battery run down a lot faster if you do this, because it's checking so often for new emails
