Several months ago my dh installed the latest version of Windows in our pc. He may have updated other things possibly something to do with the Internet. I am completely cluless about computers so cant be clearer than that.
We have a family email account - but I also have a totally private Yahoo one. I used to be able to email documents saved on our pc to people using my Yahoo email. Could also save attachments people had emailed to me at my yahoo on to my home pc. No problem.

Ever since he "did" something to the pc I cannot save documents I have received at my Yahoo address to my pc - unless I save them to the desktop. Also when I try to attach any document save to our pc to a yahoo mail I am sending it does not call up the names of our documents saved to " My Documents" "Local Disk c" or whatever and I can no longer just click Attach/Browse/ the way I used to.
The only way I have found around this is to open document - rename and save to Desktop - then I am able to attach it to a yahoo email. Very fiddly though.
I have no idea why this happens. Anyone else know and/or know how to fix it?
My dh could probably sort it out - but the Yahoo is a private account - I'd prefer him not to know it exists!
Not used for anything sinister i hasten to add - It is work and financial stuff mainly!

I just tried the same thing using my son's Googlemail and it is exactly the same as the result I get trying to attach things to Yahoo emails.

Can you try another browser ? Opera.com is one I can recommend, as is Firefox (visit getfirefox.com

Firefox on the options menu (sorry, depends on which version you have - under Tools on recent versions, or Edit menu on older ones) lets you specify the download folder.

Personally I hate everything downloading onto the desktop and visit clients where there seems almost no space left as there is so much 'junk' filling the desktop. I normally create a new folder on the C: drive called "Download" and then set Firefox to save everything into c:\Download

Good luck.

Hi Networkguy, Seashore here, sorry to butt in here but I need some help! Haven't been on here in a while and I can't find my way back to the threadkillers, tried searching my name etc, no luck, is it gone? Do you think you can help, maybe with a link or something?

It's strange though, isn't it, why it's not on my search list?

Hope the thread isn't truly killed Shock!!

Networkguy, you out there??

NetworkGuy · 01/11/2010 18:41

Yes, sorry, was trying to hunt down that thread myself and finding that I could not get 'advanced search' to work (trying to find any topics I had posted on in Chat but clicking to 'select' Chat fails on 3 different PCs so am still seeing if there's one I can get to work!)

hi Smile, thanks NWG, I had thought something strange was going on, if I didn't have it on my I'm On I was finding it harder and harder to get back to, also yourself and Thumbwicth weren't around for a while so once I couldn't find it I realised you two must be having trouble too. Is it on your threads I started?

I think it's odd though, why both threadkiller threads aren't on my search list, the first one disappeared ages ago.

I'm sure you missed my many different ways of typing TW's name!

seashore · 02/11/2010 15:19

So tracked down TW, she reckons it's the chat 90 days delete thing and we should start afresh.

Here's the link

see you there! Smile
