Word won't work on my laptop

it's fairly new and i suspect it came with a disk or something which i have now lost.

it says it wants a product key.

i've fucked up haven't i? how do i fix it?

Have you not got the product key?

what's a product key? would that be on the lost disk? or on the laptop somewhere?

It is a 16 digit code that is/was on the inside of the disc case.

Unless you can find it.
Or ask a friend if they will let you share their product key (it licenses 3 computers.)
Can you somehow find out the product key that you entered on the old computer and use that?

download open office. it's free (and legal). just the same as the ms office products.
