Hello, I'm thinking about getting dd(7) a dsi or dsi-xl for Christmas.
Can anyone who has one tell me how useful the browser is on it? Do your dc use it?

What sort of things can they do? Would things like club penguin and maths whizz work on it?

I'm thinking if it is useful as a browser the larger screen might be worthwhile, but if just games maybe not.... any opinions gladly rec'd!

Many thanks

If you don't mind, I will lurk here, as we are looking into getting DS one of these. Not sure which to go for, if anyone can recommend whether to pay extra for the XL?

Well since no geeks appear to be forthcoming shall we just chat amongst ourselves...?! I looked at dsi and dsi xl yesterday...the xl isn't all that big, it still looks very portable - I think I might go for it. Apparently the browser doesn't support flash player which would rule out lots of sites dd likes I think, you can download lots of games though... I would imagine it would be better to play games with bigger screen..and younger 2 dc can look over her shoulder more easily.....

We might just flush some geeks out.

I have not seen them in RL yet, but the XL does seem to be a good bit bigger than the DSi.

Not sure about the browser, tbh, I am quite happy for them not to be able to go online without me watchign them. Any idea if it is in any way parental controlled? Or can be switched off.

I thought that the bigger one would probably be better too.

I think you can connect to nintendo dsi site straightaway anyway and buy games etc, the browser is a free download from there, so you don't have to have it...not 100% sure though... presume there are parental controls, you'd have thought so wouldn't you?

When you look at them side by side it's not so much the xl looks big but the normal one looks weeny.

Late joiner on the thread, but I looked at both and in the end opted for the XL, I thought the big screen, the pen to use and the cameras and the broswer were all a good deal.
