Hello!

Can anyone help me please?

I would like to know if MSN messenger automatically stores logs? Have found conflicting information online suggestions that these days you have to specify in messenger to save the logs, or that it does automatically.

If they are there, how can I find these logs on a machine running Fedora?

Thanks geeks!

OK, if you are running Fedora Linux you are not using MSN messenger (unless you are running it in Wine?), you are probably running Empathy. Or possibly Pidgin.

Both of these can probably store logs, and may or may not do so by default. First find out what you are using and use whatever help is available there - does it look like this or this?

Bear in mind that if you are going to run Linux (and Fedora more so than Ubuntu) you need to be fairly self-sufficient.

Thank you for replying. I am not the one running it, it isn't my computer. I know a little about the various distros but not enough to do what I need to do. (so actually, I know fuck all Grin)

I think he is using messenger on the hotmail site. Is that possible, rather that a trillian style client?

I know that he has used ebuddy. Is this web based chat? And if so I assume untraceable?

ebuddy is untraceable in that it doesn't store chat logs.

msn on windows does ask you after your first conversation if you want to save the chat logs.

thanks juney. I did assume that all web clients would be no go. It has been years since I have used any form of messenger, i know nothing.
