Is it saying MIME attachment?

What is this person trying to send to you? What exactly is the name of the file?

MIME is a standard way of attaching anything to an email. So I'm thinking that the attachment is something that an iPhone can't open and can't identify, so it just says that it's a MIME attachment.

duh sorry yes mime not mme

they are just the usual funny/rude joke emails i get sent

as i said i can read/open them on lappy just cant read them on the iphone

so the subjects are always different

is there anything i can do/download to be able to open then?

thanks

It depends on what the attachment actually is.

What is an example name?

The important bit is the bit after the dot, so if the filename is jokes.docx the bit I'm curious about is the docx.

What's going on is that your laptop has loads of software on it and one of those has the ability to open up the attachment. The iPhone has a lot less on it and probably just can't find anything to open the attachment with.

grrrrrrrrrr have deleted them on the lappy, i often do once i read the jokes

but i also got an email today with a wps attachment that i couldnt open - is that Microsoft works?

is there an ipp for that? thanks :)

You're right, a WPS file is probably a file from Microsoft Works.

On a desktop machine you'll probably find that Office itself will be able to open it.

There might be an app to open it on an iPhone but I'm really not sure...

But this does confirm that that's the problem you have, you're being emailed a document that your iPhone just doesn't know how to open.
