Paying Virginmedia but NOT getting the service

A few weeks ago VirginMedia Broadband (wireless) didn't work for about 10 days, This caused me untold problems with work related and personal related issues. Finally the situation was resolved and they promised NOT to bill me for the week + of loss of service....

Now they've billed me not only for the whole time I had no service but also for the telephone calls to their helpline in India....

To make matters worse, today, I've had no service to SEND emails and I have several really, really urgent ones that HAVE to go out tonight!!!

Has anyone else had problems with VirginMedia recently and has anyone managed not only to get a rebate for loss of service but also for loss of earnings to a small business?????

They were rubbish for me.

The only thing I can say which might be helpful is that when I cancelled, they said they'd only charge me part of the bill, then charged me the whole amount. I phoned up and they said that's how their system works, and they would send me a cheque with a refund for the part of the bill I was not supposed to pay. So they charge the full amount, then refund as necessary. So they MAY refund you for that week by cheque.

Can't help with the loss of earnings though.

I can almost guarantee that you won't get a rebate for loss of earnings. It will state somewhere in your contract with them that they aren't liable for any losses and most home broadband contracts have a term which says you can't use the service for business purposes.

Virgin terms and conditions are here here.
