Certain thread topics are freezing my laptop.

So far it's Pregnancy and Childbirth, which wouldn't normally bother me but I am pregnant!

When I click on a thread in these subjects, it will open but then freezes when I try to scroll down. I then have to close everything down and reconnect to the internet.

Does anyone know if there is an easy solution to this problem? I am from the 'turn it off and turn it on again' school of using computers (yes, I've already tried that!) and will not be offended if you speak to me as though I am three years old Grin It's not a huge inconvenience, but it would be nice to be able to access some of these threads.

TIA

I have this problem with mumsnet too. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it but some threads I click on crash Safari immediately. Also sometimes happens when I press the back button. Never happens when using any other sites than MN. Really annoying!

It's been happening to me for a few months- it's usually something to do with the graphics in the wanky ads and wee films and twitter wotnots down the side- I usually get a windows box open after a few minutes of being frozen which tells me some script or other is causing a go-slow and do I want t abort it....(to which the answer is if I can't block it from popping out at me totally, then yes, please!)

You could try downloading a different browser.

For example if you're using Internet Explorer or Safari then try Firefox.

BadgersPaws, thanks for the advice but I just clicked on a Pregnancy thread by accident, and after weeks of problems its now working fine Hmm

CrazyCatLady and Bucharest, looks like the solution may be to start your own thread on the subject and the problem will resolve itself!

Oh that's weird Casa, will have to try!

Badgers I've tried with Firefox too and the same thing happens.

Timing wise it does seem to coincide with the arrival of the annoying twitter/facebook nonsense and all the 'lively' ads etc.

It's not every day either, it's quite random, but once it's happened once in an evening say, then I know it will just keep happening so I just don't use MN.

It's happened just now, on trying to click into a thread in the 'pregnancy' forum. Bye bye MN...
