I am shocked, devestated and upset; do you know how much a new battery for my laptop is going to cost??

yeah I know - shite isn't it?

KatyMac · 09/09/2010 18:58

Can I buy a cheaper one on ebay/amazon?

I've got a brand new one somewhere, and if it's the right type, you're welcome to it. I bought it thinking the battery was the problem, but it turned out to be more than that.

I'll have a look tomorrow and let you know what kind it is.

lisad123isgoingcrazy · 09/09/2010 20:00

check online, my battery was recalled along with loads of ohers.

KatyMac · 09/09/2010 20:01

Oh thanks - that is kind of you

Mine is a vostro 1700......but who knows what sort of battery that is

I'm doing lots of train journeys atm & I need to do OU work so I thought a spare battery would be best

Mine is only 2.5 hrs which isn't quite enough

Search ebay for vostro 1700 battery. Buy-it-now from a supplier with 10,000+ feedback in the UK.

Thanks for the warning Lisa

Will do mranchovy if AgentProvocateur has the wrong one - I'd rather buy from her......

OK I have mine here, but I don't know what kind it is. It says "Replace PA3465U-1BRS PABAS069". Does that mean anything to anyone?

It was originally for a Toshiba laptop, if that helps.

KatyMac, if it will fit, you can have it for nothing. It's been sitting in a cupboard here for about a year, and the only reason it's not been binned is because it's out of sight and out of mind!

KatyMac · 10/09/2010 16:41

I think (mranchovy may correct me) that they are brand specific (iyswim)

What a shame, maybe you could find someone who wants it 'free for postage' (don't throw it away, batteries need careful recycling Blush)

OP posts:
AgentProvocateur · 10/09/2010 16:49

That's a pity. Don't worry - I won't throw it out. I'll freecycle it or see if anyone at work can use it.

I can' believe the price of laptop batteries!

KatyMac · 10/09/2010 17:42

Sorry I didn't mean to be bossy Blushx2

Do try eBay. Or even Amazon. I got a new power lead for a fraction of the price charged by curry's etc

DirtyMartini · 10/09/2010 17:47

We need one too, for a Dell - ours is dying and we keep getting a message about it. We are still paying off the laptop! Am a bit hacked off but looks like we'll have to shell out. Pah.

KatyMac · 10/09/2010 17:48

The ebay one mranchovy linked to is less than £35 which is a big difference

Never ever by the branded battery Grin (you'd be cheaper buying a new laptop). There are plenty of reputable companies selling replacement power leads/batteries etc for bugger all.

DirtyMartini · 11/09/2010 19:00

Any specific companies you can recommend, ItsAll?
