funny smell coming from the left hand side where the fan-type thing is, also the power cable (the bit that plugs into the back) gets very hot - is this normal? don't want laptop to spontaneously combust on me!

hoover the fan

never use it on a soft surface (lap, cushion, carpet)

prop each end on a book for better air circulation

shut down properly if unused for 10min - do not sleep / stand by etc

be careful, mine went bang on my knee and left a nasty mark, after smelling for a couple of days.

oh dear, think i should prob get it checked out, although since i've sat it on a book the power socket area doesn't seem to be hot at all. thanks.
