About this iPhone "M N app" Thingy...

Are the Almighty Techpeople any nearer to having it ready (impatient geek emoticon)
I've got on here on the iPhone anyway cos I'm addicted interested to see how it looks, but a specific app will make it SO much easier. And big enough to read... :)

while we're asking questions.... are they gonna do a blackberry one to?

do you have column view on the iphone? it works for me on the bb

I tend to turn my iPhone sideways on and then enlarge so the column width fills the screen. That way I can read it alot easier. An actual app would be better though so that I don't constantly have to have a web page taking up space in safari.

The only trouble I have with using MN on the iPhone is that I can't get a full list of topics. A good example would be Geeky Stuff, Chicken Keepers and Things for Free. I can only find them if someone, like yourself, posts a thread on this topic. I can then go into the thread and select the topic title to find the different threads in that topic. If a new iPhone app could give you the full list of topics rather than a shortened one (like I seem to have) that would make MN even better - if that's possible!!

If an app becomes available (ooh, I'm excited!!), will I be able to get it in Oz, or are apps country specific?

Not sure why you can't get the full topic list -I just tried on my iPhone & you just need to touch the 'more' link at the end of each subsection - or touch 'show all' or 'All topics A-Z' on the blue bar. It can be a bit tricky getting the touch in exactly the right place, but if you zoom in it's easier.

Last thing we heard the app was coming 'soon' but it was an unknown value of 'soon'....

Actually, last thing we heard was that it was off to Apple for approval at the end of August, it think it was.

So I have a feeling the next update will be 'its out of our hands, go bug Apple HQ!'

Just googles to see if I could find out how long it takes for an app to be approved and found this inside information...

So we're all about as unwise as each other then... I am quite happy to bug Apple, I'm not scared [much] I'm also doing the column thing, and expanding the text as big as I can get it, but it's still a bit weeny, and the overall difficulty / pain-in-the-arseness of mning is tiresome.

I am dying to get a MN app as I got an iPad at the weekend.

I was also prodding for a BlackBerry app as I have one of those too (don't have an iPhone).

Thanks GiggleWitch and BigBadMummy I've been racking my brains for ages trying to think of a half-decent MN name as all the good ones are taken!! I was reading a thread where everyone on it was slating people for having a name that had Mummy in it ie JoeBloggsMummy etc so thought I'd best change my name for fear of being ridiculed to be a bit more original. Anyway was telling dh I needed would like another bag and thought the name suited me!! lol (wonder if I'll now find a thread that forces me to change again!).

Loving the Google info RustyBear - makes the wait for approval sound a little less frustrating somehow, then again, maybe not......

When I submitted my App, it took about three days for it to get to the reviewing process, and then about 3 more days for it to be reviewed and accepeted. The person who submits the App has access to information about whether it is at the 'Waiting for Review' or 'In Review' stage, but nothing about how long it will take once it's in each stage, but from what I have heard, once it actually gets to In Review, then it can go quite quickly. It varies at different times of the year - sometimes they seem to have very slow periods where people waited weeks, and other times it's done in a couple of days. The complexity of the App also determines how long it takes to review it. If the App requires some kind of internet access, log-on, etc, then some people are able to tell when/if their App is actually undergoing review, because they can see that the dummy user-name/access has been used. If they have any questions, complaints, comments, objections, then they send it back for you to fix, and then you have to go through the whole resubmission process again. The whole submission process is complicated, and there are a million hoops to jump through, and everything has to be just exactly right - it's a lot of work, even after the coding is done.
