I want to show a slideshow of photos at a party next week - what can I load my photos onto to add effects etc before saving to the disk? Must be free and downloadable from 'net!

Thank you!

Do you have Windows? If so it should have come with Windows Movie Maker and Windows DVD Maker already included (or on the installation disks) and you can do it easily with those.

I use photo story rather than movie maker for stills - it's very similar but I find it easier to use.
It's a free download from Microsoft, you just need to make sure you get the right version for your operating system (XP/Vista/Windows7)

If you just throw a load of photos onto a CD / DVD I'd expect Windows Fax and Image viewer to do a "slide show" just by pressing F11 (to go full screen).

Admittedly no 'fancy' effects to switch from one image to another, but perhaps handy as a backup if you find time runs out!

Have to say I don't use MS PowerPoint, but does OpenOffice have a similar facility ? Would assume that could do some effects, and OpenOffice is free.
