Pc & wireless connection

I've moved my pc & it's no longer near a phone plug, I've set the wireless router up 10 feet away from pc. The laptops are connecting to the internet but the pc isn't. Prior to moving pc there was a yellow cable that connected from router into pc tower. Do I need to get a phone extension lead or is there anything else I can do?

Maybe a stupid question, but ... have you got a wireless card in the pc? The fact you were using a wired connection before suggests you might not have.

Buy a wireless usb dongle for the pc ..if there is no wireless card

You probably need to get a wireless adapter for your PC. It looks like a memory stick and plugs into one of your USB ports.

or a longer ethernet cable

Wow Thanks for the speedy replies, I've found an extension cable & plugged router back into the pc. Not ideal, wires all over the place. I'll look into getting a wireless dongle, no idea if there's a wireless card in the pc.

If you look on the back of your PC, a wireless card will have a little antenna coming out of it.

No antenna!

Pretty unusual for many desktop PCs to have a wireless card in them - unless you have a 'nettop' system like an EEE box, or an MSI Wind

I've seen 1 in maybe 300 desktops over the past few years, but the good news is that a USB wireless adaptor won't break the bank! Take a quick look on Ebay, perhaps.

Thanks....off to check ebay.
