dh tried something last night but by this morning the dvd still hadn't ripped/been ripped or whatever the terminology (complete techno thicko).

tried to google infos, seen various things which cost around $30. Don't want to part with money unless I know it works. So, do I need to buy anything or is there a good free way to do it. And is it easy? (it needs to be for me to do it) Our car dvd just died, so would be glad to avoind having to buy another gadget.

Thank you in hopeful advance.

Would help to know whether you are using a Windows PC, Mac, or Linux, to read the DVD.

You could download something called Handbrake on to your mac (it is free and so far very reliable) and it will do the ripping. There is a video on youtube showing you exactly what to do. Just search under DVD to ipad or something like that.

The format that works best on ipad is the appletv preset on Handbrake.

thank you. I've finally got round to try it out, and it won't let me open handbrake. I just get 'failed to open page' or 'cannot connect to server' but have tried several different things and pages so am wondering if it's being somehow blocked?

Any way round this? Or direct link please. this is frustrating, and have another long journey looming.....
