iPad users - how easy is it to set up?

And do you need a computer to plug it into?

DH is bringing one home from US and he is Eeyorishly stating that he will NOT be able to set it up, and get it working. I will be away with the laptop.

We have the Wifi, no 3GS.

Does he just have to open settings and choose which Wifi to log into (much as on a iPhone?)

What about iTunes? Can he log into that without connecting to the laptop (which I will have with me)

I think you do have to start by connecting to iTunes on the computer you're going to be syncing with - it's the first thing it tells you to do, just like with the iPhone, so you can register it. Not sure what happens if you don't do that first.

With the wifi, I just connected the same way I do for a new laptop, it picked up our livebox & asked for the password & I pressed the pairing button & entered the password as normal.

Ok, so he won't be able to use it until I get home. Since he has no iTunes.

What about folk who do not have a computer?

Maybe the apple store can set it up for someone who doesn't have a computer., but you probably wouldn't want to do that if you were going to sync with your own laptop later as it would all need to be changed.

I actually don't use my laptop that much anymore - only for stuff that needs flash, like my shockwave games, and I've only synced twice since I got the iPad two months ago and that was only to transfer my purchases for backup - I just download everything straight onto the iPad now. I've now got the camera/camera card connection kit, so I can put my photos straight onto iPad too.

I have occasional issues with it dropping the wireless, even when the iPhone is connected - it doesn't seem to always reconnect properly after it's been asleep or if our router goes offline it doesn't pick it up when it comes back. Normally turning the wireless off & then back on again fixes it.

Sounds good, Rusty.

I am rather excited. We had put it off for now but DH was in the States and could not resist a bargain.
