Help - does a 3G IPad work in France?

My DP needs to work while we're away; will the 3G IPad work in France, or is there some special gizmo we'll need to get?

Thanks

I think it would depend on the contract of the SIM that you use with it.

Roaming date rates are meant to be very expensive, it might be worth getting a SIM card while in France.

It will work - but as Badger mentions - roaming rates can be extortionate. You can of course try to find a wi-fi source. Where you will be staying?

Thanks folks. We'll be staying first near Bergerac and then in Brittany. How would I go about getting a SIM in France? Could I get one before we go? Otherwise it sounds like a process that might take up most of the holiday...

Supermarkets will probably sell pay as you go sim cards - they do here in Belgium. Many places have wifi hotspots though. I stayed in 7 separate places on my recent hols and only 1 didn't have wi-fi (either free or paid).
