I want to send some audio files via gmail over 25mb but they won't go through - anyone any idea of how I can do this?

Can you 'zip' it?

SandyisinCaldwell · 30/07/2010 14:47

Monty tried that but still over 25.

No point- they are already compressed, at least they are if they're mp3s or the like. There are various services like yousendit.com which enable you to upload a file to their server and then send a link to the person you want to send it to, which will enable them to download it. For small numbers of files it's free.

You can also do it with Google Docs, which you access by logging into your gmail account and going to "Google Account Settings". That is really meant for online collaboration, but you can "share" the files by sending out emails that will have links to the downloadable files, quite easily.

prism: thanks for that - didn't realise you can do it via google docs.

No I wasn't sure myself as that not really what's it's designed for, but sure enough if you right-click on the links in the emails it sends out you get the option to download.

just doing it - think it will take a while to load though.

Uploading takes way longer than downloading...

dh sends bedtime stories to the dc via transferbigfiles - works fine

NetworkGuy · 31/07/2010 20:50

YouSendIt allws you to upload a file of up to 50 MB and sends an e-mail to the intended recipient (all free).

sorry, now see it was already mentioned, along with transferbigfiles (one more for me to check!)

thanks Network Guy
