ipod touch so slow and crashing - is OS4 to blame?

i recently installed the new version of the ipod touch/ iphone OS.

it has also started crashing/ freezing when using safari.
the battery life is poop now too.

is it coincidence?

how do i fix it?

going to the apple shop with a toddler who loves expensive gadgets is a nightmare!

There's a free phone number for Apple that we found on Apple website. If you call they will help with problems step by step. But no, not a coincidence, we had problems with our iPhones and iPod touch after installing latest updates. We were given advice on resetting (not factory reset where everything is wiped off) and seems to work. If you hold the off button and home button together until it switches itself off it seems to work. Sometimes it'll come back on after 20 seconds but if not you can switch it back on using the on/off button. Hopefully that'll work for you like it did for us but what a blooming nuisance!!
