How to read files with the suffix .ppt?

I'm guessing it's powerpoint - but I don't have that

Can they be 'read' by anything else?

Open Office? It's free to download and can read (and save) most major formats.

google documents might read it? try getting a google mail account, email it to there, and then open it in google. Sometimes the formatting is wonky though.
