Tomtom satnav - how does it work

HI. I have just bought a Tomtom XL2 Europe 42 with a very limited instruction book. Does anyone know how to add a point of interest? Is it possible to do it when you are in a place so that it gets exactly the right coordinates?

Have you installed the information on to your pc? When we did ours there was a full instruction manual supplied on download.
