Can raspberries be grown successfully in containers?

I'd love to grow them but sadly I am restricted to container gardening. Has anyone tried to grow them and had success? Would they need to be brought in during the winter? Thank you.

Grown not green! I've asked HQ to edit my title.

Yes. You can get varieties that are grown as a bush, so better for pots. Don't need to bring them in in the winter, they will look like they have died after they fruit, but will come again the following year.

Blueberries also very good for pots

That sounds promising, thank you.

I have grown raspberries in pots. They only lasted a couple of years before they needed replacing. Gooseberries were very successful in pots and also thornless blackberries.

I have a variety called Dwarf Ruby Beauty which is small ish bush variety that does very well in a pot.

Would squirrels eat them?

We have SO many squirrels and they destroy such a lot of stuff 😞

We have many raspberries in pots! Dd gave them to me - both normal and golden. I ate my way through them last year; they were so delicious, they're one of my favourite fruits. Largish pots, well staked, they seem to be doing OK atm despite the cold, rain, storms and frost!

My raspberry plants have arrived and now I need to get some large containers. I hope they grow well.

I have about eight large pots with raspberries. They are actually standing on soil by a wall and have rooted down into the soil. Great crops of fruit.
