Hi,
I planted a gorgeous Clematis about 3 months ago-it has spread lovely all up the trellis but not had 1 flower on it yet??? And no signs of any either?
Have 2 other clematis that have flowered so much already.
Is this normal-what should I do?

Thanks

What variety is it?

I have this problem too, with two different varieties, one is supposed to be flowering now, the other flowers earlier on in the summer.

They are both planted beneath a big tree, and I'm now wondering if the lack of light is gettign to them? Or perhaps it's drought, though we do water there fairly often.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

There are varieties which flower later, so maybe one of those. I too have a beautiful early flowering one which was almost killed off in the snow, so i cut it right back and it has come back to life but there won't be flowers on it this year.

Yes RAB - it maybe that the OP either has a later flowering variety - or a very early one. I always remember for clematis - feet in the shade, head in the sun.

GC - It can be quite tricky planting under a tree because the tree takes the water/nutrients before the plants can. Are the plants looking healthy or do they look a bit stressed?
