Potatoes - where did I go wrong?

First time veg grower this year, and planted 3 bags of potatoes from seed ones. Have just harvested what I thought were the 'earlies' as new potatoes. They had red skins though so not quite sure - but anyway that's another story.

Basically, I only got two handfuls out of the bag. Surely that can't be enough?? There were maybe a further 15-20 really teeny tiny ones which had not grown. I thought I watered them ok, and earthed them up ok. Where might I have gone wrong?

Thanks!

You dug them up too early, if the spuds had not finished growing!

Learn patience next time - or just uncover a tiny patch around the base to check on the size of the spuds before you dig.
