Grow Your Own Vegetables by Joy Larkcom. No fancy pictures but everything you could possibly need to know, also has month by month guide plus a vegetable by vegetable guide.

I have the book Takver has linked to which is helping a lot in my first year as an allotmenteer. I've had various others out the library but it's the Joy Larkom book I always go back to. Good luck with it.

this beautiful book here is my most-used for veg types and ideas. It gets lent out regularly.

For growing advice, I ask the blokes on the allotments!!

enjoy your Allotment!!

Ooh, I gave the RHS Allotment Handbook to a friend as a present recently and he loved it - the book that is I am just looking forward to receiving my thanks in produce later in the year now - particularly as my own PSB seems to be growing awry! You could also check out the fab RHS iphone app...
