What's the best way to support them??

I use pea sticks, old knobbly twigs with sticky out bits stuck in the ground near them. Although I have seen much more complex structures, depending on whether you are growing them in an orderly line etc.

Mine were planted with the DC so are all over the shop so pea sticks work well.

Last year used pea netting, this year am trying dead bamboo, killed by the frost - ds helped chop tufty bits.
I think as long as the support has some sort of nobbles the mangetout will cling on ok.
