Following on from my previous question about sprinklers, does anyone use soaker hose for their veg, is it any good and how exactly do you use it?

IME the most important thing is regular watering, so if you use one of these then you need it fitted to an automatic waterer on a tap. I used to have a tap in my greenhouse and another at my veg patch but don't any more - sob .

I tried soaker hose once and it probably would have been great if I had
a) not buried it and lost it and cut it in half when i planted things
b) used it with a timer on the tap as above

but I have heard that they degrade.

And you need to run them where the veg actually are of course.

So could you just turn it on for an hour every day at the same time? Or would you leave it on always? Do you have the tap turned very low or do you have 'normal' sprinkler pressure?
