ok so i dnt no the first thing about gardening, just moved into my flat and the garden is a mess grass is about 10inches long has a few small hedges loads of jaggy nettles along the edges and the ground under it is all is very uneven
all i want is to be able to stick a few deck chairs out in the summer and have it nice enough so my little one can play with his shoot or just run around

what tools should i buy will a lawn more its self cut it or do i need to dig out all the jaggy nettles and stuff first sorry for the daft questions but never even had a garden before

should also add have a very tight budget so cant afford any expensive gadgets

thanks in advance

You don't say how big the garden is.

Assuming it's a small/normal size, maybe the best thing would be to hire a man with a strimmer for a day, to chop everything down & take it away. Or you could hire a strimmer if you want to do it yourself. It's not difficult, just hard work. Would your dad/brother help?

Once that's done, nettles will need digging out so you'll need a fork and you'll need a lawn mower but choose one related to the size of your lawn. Second hand ones can be good.

Then suggest you get some paving put down (dad/brother?)and some pots with something long flowering like hydrangeas for minimal effort. Then you've only got a little bit of watering and mowing once a week which is a really good work out and good for dealing with stress.
