Is your wisteria in flower/leaf at the moment?

Think mine must be dead or nearly dead! It has two very sorry looking flowers and four leaves on the whole plant.

Ours is just finishing as it was a bit late this year. It was a lovely flower though. We're in the SE so you might be a bit later.

Coming to the end of an amazing set of flowers. We're also SE.

Bah I am south east too! Think it is on it's way out then Only planted it about 3 years ago. Perhaps I'll try hacking it right back and see if I can revive it.

hack it back and see.

where is it situated? is it getting enough sun / water? you could try moving it.

weblette · 20/05/2010 23:25

Have you tried 'lovebombing' it with something like fish blood & bone?

My wisteria is a good 15 years old, pruned back gently after first flower then more severely after the second flowering in the autumn.

It defintitely gets enough sun. Maybe needs extra water? It is on the front of my house that gets the afternoon and evening sun. But quite close to the wall so maybe not enough rain is getting to it.

I will add some fertilisers to it and water it. If no more joy then I will try hacking it back.

Thanks all!

it might not be getting enough water if it's too far under the roof. if you make sure it gets enough water for a couple of summers, it'll be all right.

cece · 24/05/2010 14:43

OK thanks will try that.

Didn't I read somewhere that there is a new beetle that has come in from China or somewhere that is killing off the wisteria ?

I hear it is beginning to become quite a dangerous pest, so everyone keep an eye out for this little bug er.

Oh dear that doesn't sound good. Is there a picture of them somewhere so I know what to look out for?
