compost and hamster bedding

WE got our new compost bin yesterday. the instructions that came with it says you can put rabbit bedding with straw in it- so can you put hamster bedding in as well?
the hamster has wood shavings in his cage

You can put litter from vegetarian pets in compost, we have guinea pigs and three years down the line, our garden has never looked better!

I put the hen litter in too - and they are certainly not vegetarian (ever seen 2 hens fighting over a poor frog? )
